Classic '81 disco number from Odyssey, built around the massive hit 'Going back to my Roots' originally composed by the masterful 'Dr Dre of soul' Lamont Dozier.
'Triplet' from reggae/dub legends Sly and Robbie, originally released in '83 as the B-side to Ken Boothe's 'Show and Tell', re-released in 2005 on the 'Taxi Sound' EP. There's also the famous reggae cover of the recently departed Michael Jackson's monster hit 'Billie Jean' on the A-side of 'Taxi Sound' which is worth a look if you haven't heard it before.
Monged-out soundtrack groove from TheFolk Implosion, which almost sounds like it should have been on one of the famous 'Dusty Fingers' breaks compilations.
Photo of a drugged-out young Chloe Sevigny is a still from Larry Clark's dark exploration of drugs, sex and AIDS among teenagers in 90's New York, in his defining film 'Kids' (1995). Read more about that here
Listening again to Matt Styles' mix (see below) made me pull out Imagination's 1983 album 'Night Dubbing', which for some reason I had been really sleeping on despite having it for quite some time. It's really worth picking up - original 80s edits and dubs of classic Imagination material. I'm posting 'Burnin' Up' from Mr Styles' mix, packed with big pianos and soaring disco vocals. Top stuff.
Apologies for the slackness over the last week. Hopefully this will make up for it... a tasty hour and twenty minutes of dusty disco courtesy of Matt Styles via FACT magazine. Props to Leeds' finest Alpha Neil for passing this one my way.

Loungey library from Simon Park's 'Superdoop', 1981, complete with dreamy dated synths and cocktail bar saxophone. I've added some back-to-basics drum machine sounds and looped up all my favourite bars.
